Full-Day Tour

The Cape Winelands are among the most beautiful wine-producing regions on earth, and this full-day tour immerses you in the very best they have to offer. From the historic university town of Stellenbosch to the culinary capital of Franschhoek, you will visit hand-picked boutique estates, taste world-class wines, and soak in some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in southern Africa.

Your journey begins with a drive through the farmlands of the Cape, arriving in Stellenbosch, South Africa’s second-oldest town, founded in 1679. Wander beneath centuries-old oak trees lining the streets, admire the beautifully preserved Cape Dutch architecture, and feel the vibrant energy of this student town. Mike will take you to carefully selected wine estates where you can taste exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, and Pinotage, South Africa’s signature grape, in intimate cellar-door settings far removed from the crowds.

From Stellenbosch, the route winds over the Helshoogte Pass with sweeping views of vine-covered valleys and dramatic mountain peaks, before descending into Franschhoek, the so-called French Corner of the Cape. This picturesque village was settled by French Huguenot refugees in 1688, and their winemaking legacy lives on in every glass. Franschhoek is consistently rated among the top food and wine destinations in the world, and the estates here are as renowned for their restaurants as for their vintages.

At one of the estates, you may have the opportunity to enjoy a wine and chocolate pairing, an indulgent experience that reveals how different flavour profiles in fine chocolate complement and enhance the character of each wine. Mike tailors the estate selection to your palate, whether you prefer bold reds, crisp whites, or sparkling Cap Classique.

Throughout the day, Mike shares the rich history of winemaking in the Cape, from the first vines planted by Jan van Riebeeck in 1655 to the modern renaissance that has placed South African wines on the world stage. This is not a rushed, checklist tour. It is a relaxed, personal journey through one of the world’s great wine regions, guided by someone who knows every back road and hidden gem.
