Full-Day Tour
No visit to Cape Town is complete without standing on the summit of Table Mountain, and this full-day tour combines the mountain experience with the very best of the Mother City’s cultural and historical landmarks. From the flat-topped peak high above the city to the vibrant streets below, you will discover what makes Cape Town one of the most captivating cities in the world.
The day typically begins with a drive to the Lower Cable Station, where you will board the revolving cable car for the five-minute ascent to the summit. At the top, more than 1,000 metres above sea level, the views are simply extraordinary: the city bowl, Robben Island, the Atlantic seaboard, the Cape Flats stretching to the Hottentots Holland Mountains, and on a clear day, Cape Point in the far distance. Take your time exploring the summit’s network of pathways, spotting dassies (rock hyraxes) sunning themselves on the rocks, and photographing the unique fynbos vegetation found nowhere else on earth.
Back at sea level, the city tour begins in the Bo-Kaap, one of Cape Town’s oldest and most photogenic neighbourhoods. The cobblestone streets are lined with brightly painted houses in shades of lime green, turquoise, pink, and yellow, a legacy of the Cape Malay community that has called this area home for generations. Mike will share the fascinating cultural history of the Bo-Kaap and its people.
Next, you will visit the Company’s Garden, a tranquil green oasis in the heart of the city originally established by the Dutch East India Company in 1652 to supply fresh produce to passing ships. From there, it is a short drive to the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa, built between 1666 and 1679. The afternoon continues with a visit to the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town’s vibrant harbour precinct, where you can browse the markets, enjoy lunch at a waterfront restaurant, or simply watch the boats come and go against the backdrop of Table Mountain.
The tour concludes with a drive up Signal Hill for panoramic sunset views over the Atlantic Ocean, the perfect end to a day spent discovering the soul of Cape Town.
